It is with sadness that Rhythm of the Rockies is preparing to say goodbye to the only director we’ve known.

Mary Hager has decided to retire, following the 2020 Regional Convention, and move on to a new chapter in her life after 19 years with Rhythm. She will be truly missed but we are all thrilled for her and will all be embracing the magic of new beginnings.

Thank you, Mary, for your years of guidance and dedication to the art of barbershop and the chorus.

Best wishes for your retirement.

Calgary has a vibrant barbershop scene with 6 choruses in the city. Our annual Inter Chorus Party is a fun night out with our brothers and sisters in harmony, where we gather to eat, drink and sing. This was our first time singing our New Orleans package for an audience and we got a resounding standing O!  ...and if you noticed, there was a golf theme this year!

Where has the year gone! Rhythm of the Rockies celebrated another wonderful year at our annual summer BBQ. It was a tad cool and blankets were offered by our wonderful hostess Melody. It was a fabulous evening of food, camaraderie and entertainment- quartets singing, a solo performance, singing of group chorus songs, trying out some oldies from our sing-a- long sheets and spontaneous groups singing. Who could ask for anything more? Except of course the acknowledgement of the outgoing and incoming management team.

May 25- the Rhythm of the Rockies " Acappella Blitz" was quite an adventure. The weather gods decided to green up Calgary that day, so our outdoor events were either rainy or moved indoors.

This did not stop our indomitable spirit while singing at 7 locations around Calgary- the Calgary Zoo, Simmons bldg, Stephen Avenue mall, the new Central library (photo below), the infamous King Eddy, Eau Claire market and the Blind Beggar pub.

What party isn't complete without acknowledging our other competing quartets. Zenergy- your performance at Regionals was amazing! And our very own Jenny from Under A Rest quartet- first time out singing and competing in a quartet- wow! Way to go!
