Jennifer Auld-Rouch

Music came to play a part in Jennifer’s life early on, with piano in elementary school and some Royal Conservatory.  But musically, that was only the beginning of all that was to come. High school’s highlight was a musical theatre performance as “Maria” in West Side Story which sparked a bit more theatre after high school.

Jennifer joined another barbershop chorus before coming to Rhythm of the Rockies in 2014. Since discovering and joining Sweet Adelines and Rhythm of the Rockies her thirst for singing knowledge has never stopped. She is constantly seeking strategies to ensure healthy singing including the very latest in thinking on vocal development and sound production.  Actively engaging with coaches and teachers in the choral and barbershop world, she delights in sharing the knowledge she gains with chorus members during warmups and at every rehearsal alongside our director.

Jennifer has been chosen this year because she exemplifies the qualities of Soul Sister and the Carole Poole Spirit of 26 Award. She contributes to the chorus as the Assistant Director, Assistant Lead Section Leader, Music Team member and Vocal Warmup Team. She enjoys coaching the chorus, quartets, individual members, and even other choruses to be the best they can be! A self-professed “Barbershop Nerd” she consistently and graciously offers a great deal of her time in helping others succeed. She is no slouch with her own singing and barbershop skills! A regular Sweet Adelines International (SAI) Region 26 competitor, including regional quartet champion THREE times, with No Strings quartet, as well as competing 4 times at the international level, is an achievement she is very proud of. Most recently her mixed quartet Alloy allows her to explore a whole new singing configuration while also competing in the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS).

She can be found in her downtime making beautiful healthy meals, teaching yoga, reading a good book or camping. As a bit of a foodie, the discovery of a new spice for cooking or a good thought-provoking book title are some of the little things that help her re-charge her batteries.
