Las Vegas and Beyond

Rhythm's Las Vegas trip was as exciting and busy as we expected.  We are thrilled with our result, placing 17th out of 34 of the best  SA Choruses in the world.  It was an honor for Rhythm to be among the high caliber of showmanship and music taking the stage .

In the days before the chorus semi-finals, our Region 26 gathering for 'Rah Rah' featured impressive Western Canadian representation at International  with two choruses and 3 quartets (including our very own No Strings) competing.  Our chorus 'showgirls', Shannon and Lindsay made us proud, carrying our banner at the Opening Ceremonies.   We attended educational classes, Quartet Semi-Finals and Finals as well as the Choruses Semi-finals and Finals.  We met for daily rehearsals and gathered for breakfast the morning of the competition before primping, preening and more warming up for the stage. The MGM Grand Arena was a fantastic venue for the SAI competition. Leaving the green room for our walk to the stage we were surrounded with posters of Beyonce, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and so many others who've performed there.   Judges and an appreciative audience filled the arena as our 64 members took the stage for our 2 song package, turning all (or most) of our nervousness into sparkling energy.

A cheer went up at the Afterglow party when  Mary arrived with the scoresheets and announced our placement.  From working our way up the ladder at the Regional level, winning Gold at the mid size chorus Harmony Classic AA and now standing in the middle of the pack in the main event, we are really pleased with our progress in 14 years of Rhythm of the Rockies history.   And.........we can't wait to see what's to come!

Four Canadian Choruses competed and two of them placed top 5 - this is a talented, hard working country!

So many Vegas memories including eventually not getting lost as we roamed the enormous MGM Grand Hotel.   Piano bar singalongs, roller coaster rides, Vegas shows, shopping, Fremont St, the High Roller, pool time (and specialty drinks) , gourmet dining (and specialty drinks), Elvis Presleys everywhere and enjoying it all with an amazing group of women.
