Ready for the Regional Stage!

We  rocked out our Contest package for our Family and Friends last week.  This week, Rhythm of the Rockies members are packing their false eyelashes and bling as they head to Saskatoon this weekend (Apr 14-16) for the Sweet Adelines Region 26 competition.

Region 26 consists of choruses and quartets from the 3 western provinces and is the only All Canadian region.  There will be 14 choruses performing in Saskatoon with Rhythm of the Rockies on stage in 6th position competing as a mid-sized chorus (54 on stage).  A panel of international judges will determine which chorus(es) will win the honor of representing Region 26 at Sweet Adelines International competition in Las Vegas in 2017 - 18 months to practice and save up for the trip!  Our region has an amazing line up of strong choruses who have graced the stage at International competition in recent years including Rhythm of the Rockies in Las Vegas in 2015.  The region won GOLD in Division AA for 3 consecutive years with Westcost Harmony (2012), Rhythm of the Rockies (2013) and City of Gardens (2014).  Lions Gate Chorus from Vancouver is currently ranked 5th in the world.  With this strong collection of Western Canadian musicians, all of the choruses learn from each other and grow from the busy and exciting weekend.

And it's not all about the choruses!  Friday will showcase 19 quartets sharing the best of their harmonies as they are adjudicated by the panel of judges.  Rhythm of the Rockies is thrilled to be cheering on 3 of our quartets this year - Kaleidoscope, No Strings and Vox!  No Strings won this event in 2015 and also shone on the Las Vegas stage in 2015.  Good luck to all of these talented ladies!
