Harmony Extravanga

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” Plato

Rhythm of the Rockies started with just 7 women rehearsing in a basement! Eight months later, on April 16th, 2002, it earned its charter as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International- a record speed at the time. By May of that year, there were 31 members ready to sing for the region at the 2002 Regional competition.

In 2013, Rhythm met a long-term goal of making it to International Competition. The chorus was thrilled to perform in the Harmony Classic Division AA competition and was honoured to win first place with the highest score in the competition’s history!

In the past fifteen years, Rhythm of the Rockies has earned 20 medals and has competed internationally twice, with a third time in Las Vegas this October 2017, competing against larger-sized choruses.

Rhythm of the Rockies has also written and produced a number of groundbreaking and original full-length shows with May 6 unveiling- Life is a Highway with guests Calgary’s own Heebee-jeebees and featuring Region 26 quartet champions No Strings. Tickets www.rhythmoftherockies.org.

The chorus continues to write its own history as it grows and works toward new goals with the same spirit of enthusiasm and excitement with which it was founded fifteen years ago.
